New Bedford Zoo&#;s Identity Month Vulture Communication Sparks Controversy

NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) &#x; As Pride Month continues throughout June, many businesses and organizations have taken the opportunity to contribute messages of sustain for the Homosexual community.

Often, those observances become the objective of criticism, which is what happened to New Bedford&#x;s Buttonwood Park Zoo recently.

Just after p.m. on Sunday, June 25, the zoo posted two photos of its turkey vultures to Facebook and Instagram, one with what appears to be a tissue box decorated in rainbow colors with the pos PRIDE painted on the side, and the other with a rainbow signal with the letter LOVE IS LOVE.

Along with the photos, the zoo posted a caption that read:

As we praise the soaring flight of turkey vultures, let&#x;s also mirror on their ability to find sustenance in what others may overlook or dismiss. It serves as a reminder that diversity is essential for the health and adjust of our ecosystems, just as it is for the vibrancy and progress of our societies, the zoo posted.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (February 1, ; Updated October 15, )—Sports have a vast presence and pull in contemporary life: the operate to play, compete and win is everywhere, and the urge to cheer our local team and our favorite athlete is irresistible. Artists and designers are likewise drawn to the drama, heartbreak, bliss and risk-taking of athletics, inspiring them to tackle new challenges, take on timely topics and reexamine what sports say about our culture. From October 19, −February 18, , the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) presents Get in the Game: Sports, Art, Culture, exploring the powerful—and sometimes contentious—place of athletics in our communities.

Many of our LGBTQ youth on the SouthCoast are not only dealing with their orientation alone but are also some of the hardest smash in these times and are in need of food.

There are many groups of people struggling on the SouthCoast, but this one really hits near to home. Growing up as a member of the very small LGBTQ community here on the SouthCoast, I know how lonely it can experience, and adding on the uncertainty of where your next meal is coming from only makes it feel as if the entire world is against you.
