Laura Dern Is A Gay Icon: And That&#;s on Periodt

While debating whether it would be impactful for me to inscribe a review of the 92nd Academy Awards or if absolutely no one would care, I decided to narrow down my focus and celebrate first-time Oscar winner: Laura Dern. We all know her as Dr. Ellie Sattler in Jurassic Park, Yearn Riley in October Sky, Frannie Lancaster in The Fault in Our Stars, or Bobbi Lambrecht in Wild. Now, after 40 years of acting, she is making a comeback in more recent films like Star Wars: The Last Jedi as the purple-haired Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo, Marriage Story as Nora Fanshaw, and Little Women as Marmee Pride. But regardless of where you know her from and how long you have been a fan, Dern has undoubtedly established herself as a versatile and exceptional actress. Her role in Marriage Story snagged her a third Oscar nomination and the first win of her career for Best Supporting Actress. Previously, Dern had been nominated for Foremost Actress in Rambling Rose and Best Supporting Actress in Wild. This conquer was the perfect tribute for Dern, w

In an odd twist of fate, guest-starring on Ellen changed Laura Dern's experience in more ways than one.

While filming the role of Susan, which stretched across two episodes, and fresh from her break-up with her Jurassic Park co-star Jeff Goldblum, Laura met and fell for star Billy Bob Thornton.

After walking numerous red carpets together, becoming engaged and moving in together, their adore story came to an abrupt end when Billy Bob left to movie the dramedy Pushing Tin, with actress Angelina

“Big Little Lies” actress talks #GayTwitter fans, “Little Women” queerness and embracing the other

#GayTwitter icon Laura Dern’s queer cultural contributions — being the first to clasp Ellen DeGeneres after she came out publicly, the Renata Klein memes, the belted khaki shorts in “Jurassic Park” — are bountiful fodder for social media hyperbole. Every big and petty thing Dern does — a new pair of glasses! Neonate Yoda! — is met with great, dramatic exaltation from lgbtq+ Dern-heads on Twitter.

She is beloved for a vast filmography that includes parts in, of course, “Jurassic Park,” “Twin Peaks,” HBO’s gone-too-soon “Enlightened,” and on DeGeneres’s sitcom “Ellen,” where she portrayed DeGeneres’ out lesbian love interest, Susan. More recently, she’s acquired International GIF fame thanks to her scenery-chewing performance as one of the messy Monterey Five on “Big Little Lies” as the aspirational “I will not ‘not’ be rich” Renata Klein. Surely, too, #GayTwitter hasn’t forgotten that Dern also played one half of a lesbian couple trying to conceive in the indie comedy “Happy Endi
