Gay friendly camping near me

For many members of the LGBTQ+ community, the most important campground features are less about amenities and more about feeling protected and welcomed during their stay. While the camping community in general—regardless of orientation—is typically a kind crowd, having a place to camp where you’re not always in the minority can be a welcomed change of pace. That’s why there are LGBTQ+ campgrounds throughout the U.S. where the homosexual community can relax, unite with the outdoors, and feel free to be themselves.

But what exactly is an LGBTQ+ campground?

These campgrounds are just like any other campground in the U.S., with the exception of being exclusively catered to or openly inclusive of the gay people and its allies. Some offer LGBTQ+ events (especially during Pride month), while others simply provide tranquility of mind for campers looking to get outside in a safe space.

From queer-owned RV campgrounds to luxe camping resorts with nightclub options, here are 10 gay-friendly destinations across the U.S. that promote inclusivity for all members of the LGBTQ+ community.&n

Camping as a Gender non-conforming Person of Color

Hipcamp proudly supported the first-ever LGBTQ Outdoor Summit in October in Seattle, WA. Hipcamp Photographer Roz Posley attended on behalf of Hipcamp to share her experience as a queer person of color in the outdoor space. This is her story. Thanks for sharing, Roz!

Spending time outdoors should always be an opportunity to sit back, calm down , and enjoy the natural world. Philosophers like Henry David Thoreau, Rachel Carson, John Muir, and many others advised humans to acquire outdoors and interact with the organic world. In truth, they found the outdoors to be a safe haven. Nonetheless, for people who identify as LGBTQ, enjoying the outdoors isn’t always easy. As a queer polyamorous person of color, I have firsthand encounter feeling outcasted, terrified, and judged while attempting to scout the outdoors. However, with years of experience, excessive explore skills, and outdoor organizations that are aware of the lack of LGBTQ inclusion, it’s workable to have a good time!

Growing up, I was always outside. I loved playing in the mud, roll

Why should you plan a male lover camping trip?

Gay travel is a popular and profitable niche within the commute industry. A good percentage of LGBTQ influencers on Instagram and YouTube are gay travel bloggers and gay travel vloggers. A niche within the homosexual travel niche that’s often overlooked is gay camping and gay RVing, which are the perfect vacations for these unique times.

No doubt, you miss your international travel, too. We hear ya! But there’s much to love at home in the excellent ol’ US of A. With the CDC still cautioning about air journey and the expectation that COVID may be with us to some degree for the next two to three years, the best way to view the good ol’ US of A is on the road.
