Pride Houston pride lights up downtown, celebrating love, cohesion, and resilience

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Event Houston added another chapter to its legacy with the 47th annual march in downtown Houston.

The celebration is famous to draw thousands all in the name of noticing love and cohesion, and this year was no different.

The organization said that while it's still finalizing numbers, initial estimates put attendance at over , people.

On Saturday, the parade once again started near Metropolis Hall and moved through the area with a colorful display of floats, performers, and society groups.

ABC13, the official media partner of Pride Houston , also joined the festivities with a contingent of walkers along the route.

Considered one of the largest Pride events in the South, the parade is far from the only way the LGBTQIA+ community and allies celebrate.

Events surrounding the parade usually include a festival, which focuses on providing community resources, plus a fashion show and reception.

This year, Pride Month is set to be more epic than ever before in Bayou City thanks to two separate celebrations in June. Houston&#x;sNew Faces of Pride and Pride Houston are the organizations hosting Pride festivities with plenty of activities and fun for the entire community and allies to look forward to.

With promises to present Pride like never before Houston&#x;s New Faces of Pride is looking forward to their inaugural celebrations. Featuring indoor and outdoor activities, the celebration will take over Fish Plaza at Wortham Theater Center. The parade will smash off at p.m. on Bagby St. at outbound Allen Parkway, and stretch 15 blocks downtown for all to come out and enjoy once the sun begins to set.

The 46th Annual Official Houston LGBT+ Pride Celebration: Festival & Parade will take place downtown at Houston City Hall, Bagby Street, on Saturday, June 29, , in Houston, TX. This is Houston's Premiere Event of the Pride Season attended by hundreds of thousands of festival goers each Summer.

This year, with over , sq ft of space from Lamar to Rusk, our festival footprint still remains the largest Pride Celebration in Texas and the 3rd largest in the U.S. The Celebration will see a revamped festival layout with many cooling tents, shaded walkways, free water (while supplies last), and our seniors are allowed to bring lawn chairs.
